President’s Notes: July-August 2019
I just returned from our National Show held at the Black Sheep Gathering in Albany, Oregon and needless to say we had a lot of very excellent quality natural colored sheep in all divisions as well as some very exceptional fleeces in the fleece show. This was the first time I had been at the Black Sheep Gathering and I would urge anyone who has never been to this event to think about planning a trip to Oregon and attend. The normal dates of the last week in June will return starting next year as for the past two year the gathering had to be held the first week of July due to scheduling conflicts with the new location. The fairgrounds are exceptional and lodging is available with two fine hotels that adjoin the grounds as well as available camping areas on the grounds. Congratulations to all the winners in both the show and fleece show.
Everyone enjoyed the social events and we also held out annual membership meeting. Thanks goes to Ann and Nancy for handling the planning and awards for the National as well as Kate, her mother, Barbara and all the other folks for all their work and time with our display booth. This type of success would not be possible with the dedication and hard work of all these people. I also want to thank Amy Wolf and the entire Staff that volunteer their time to make this event happen and hosting our National Show.
Plans are under way for the 2020 National Show and more information will be coming as we are currently working the location.
The first NCWGA national sale concluded at the Midwest Stud Ram Sale where 33 heard of good natural colored sheep were entered. Tentatively we intend to again host a National Sale there next year as well and hopefully have even more consignors
As the Fair season is now in full swing I hope everyone is able to exhibit or attend the major shows in your area.
